Flame-cut edges are typically rougher than laser-cut edges. Slag removal is standard. If weld-ready edges are required, grinding is added to the order scope.
Thicker plate is not always slower to ship. A simple 80mm structural bracket can cut and ship faster than a 10mm laser part with many small holes. Part complexity can affect lead time more than thickness alone — both are confirmed at quotation.
The 30–55mm Overlap Zone
Both methods work here. Three factors determine which to use:
- Tolerance: Laser gives ±0.1 ~ ±0.3 mm; flame gives ±0.5–1mm
