Plasma capability varies by system, material, and vendor — there is no single universal plasma thickness limit. This comparison therefore treats plasma figures as system-dependent and focuses on YUNCUT's public cutting methods.

Flame cutting operates from 30mm to 200mm at YUNCUT. For thick structural plate, flame is the established process in this range.

Tolerance and Edge Quality

Plasma tolerance and edge quality depend on the system and settings used. The cut edge can have a slight bevel angle and an oxidized surface layer that may require removal before welding.

Flame cutting produces ±0.5–1mm tolerance. Surface quality is controlled according to material, thickness and project requirements.. For many structural applications — base plates, brackets, frames — flame cut edges are used directly after slag removal.

Cost Comparison

Cost depends on thickness, volume, energy, consumables, and finishing — there is no universal cost-per-kg rule between the two methods. For thin-to-medium structural plate in high volume, plasma can be cost-competitive where speed matters.
