What File Formats Does YUNCUT Accept? DXF, DWG, PDF, and More
DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP, STP, and ZIP are common formats for quotation review. Send basic project requirements first through the contact form — drawing files are not uploaded on this website and are normally shared later by email attachment after your initial inquiry is received.
DXF — The Preferred Format
DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is read directly by CNC cutting machines. No manual conversion, no interpretation layer. Geometry is exactly as drawn. Quote processing is fastest with a clean DXF. This is the format to send if you have a choice.
DWG — AutoCAD Native Format
DWG files are accepted. If you are working in AutoCAD, you can export directly to DXF (File → Save As → DXF) for slightly faster processing. If you send DWG, we handle the conversion. Make sure the file is saved in a recent version — very old DWG formats (pre-2000) occasionally cause compatibility issues.
PDF Drawings — Accepted, With a Note
PDF drawings are accepted but require manual geometry recreation before CNC programming. This adds time to the quotation and production cycle. Tolerances, surface finish requirements, and any special notes must be clearly annotated on the PDF — they cannot be inferred from geometry alone. A PDF with dimensions and tolerance callouts is better than a DXF with no tolerance information.
STEP and IGS — 3D Files
STEP (.stp, .step) and IGS (.igs, .iges) files are accepted for complex parts where 3D geometry aids understanding. ZIP archives are fine when bundling DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP, or STP files together. For flat plate cutting, a 2D projection is still required for CNC programming — send the STEP for reference and a DXF or PDF for the actual cut profile. For bent or formed parts, STEP is essential for understanding the flat pattern.
No CAD File — That's Fine Too
A dimensioned hand sketch — on paper or in a drawing app — is acceptable for simple rectangular or polygonal parts. A photo of an existing part with key dimensions noted works for reverse-engineering simple profiles. Share through email attachment after your inquiry is received, or describe the part in your first contact message if you are not ready to send files yet.
File Checklist Before Sending
- Units: millimetres (not inches)
- Closed profiles: every cut outline forms a complete loop
- Separate layers: cut geometry separate from dimensions and annotations
- Tolerance: stated separately if tighter than ±0.3mm (laser) or ±1mm (flame)
- Material: grade and thickness noted on drawing or in email
- Bevel and drilling: annotated if applicable

After your inquiry is received, YUNCUT follows up by email and you can send DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP, STP, or ZIP files as email attachments.
If the project is confidential, simplified drawings or NDA-based handling can be discussed before full files are shared. There is no instant quote, on-page upload, or automated pricing on this site.
