Why Pre-Shipment Inspection Should Be Standard, Not Optional
The most common sourcing complaint is "it wasn't what we ordered." Almost every case of this is preventable with a simple pre-shipment confirmation process.
What pre-shipment inspection covers
Dimensional check
Critical dimensions measured against the confirmed drawing using calibrated instruments. At YUNCUT: digital calipers (±0.01mm), micrometers (±0.001mm), angle gauges. All calibrated by accredited centers.
Visual / surface inspection
Edge condition, burr removal, slag on flame-cut surfaces, surface defects, and any deformation. Photos taken for buyer review.
Quantity verification
Count verified against order. Packing list matches physical shipment.
Packing condition
Pallet condition, protection material, labelling, and suitability for the transport destination confirmed before loading.
The payment timing problem
Pre-shipment inspection only works if the final payment is released after you have confirmed the inspection results — not before. Standard practice at YUNCUT:
| Stage | Payment | What You Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Order confirmation | 30% deposit | Requirements locked, production starts |
| Pre-shipment | Photos + inspection report sent | You review before releasing balance |
| Balance payment | 70% before shipment | Confirmed parts match order |
Summary
Pre-shipment inspection is not bureaucracy — it is the last practical point where problems can be fixed before shipment. Requiring photos, inspection reports, and tying final payment to pre-shipment confirmation costs nothing extra and prevents the most expensive sourcing mistakes.
