Carbon content is low compared with many higher-strength grades, which generally makes it easy to cut, weld, and machine.

Laser or Flame: Which Process for A36?

Edge Quality and Surface Condition
Laser-cut A36 edges are clean with minimal burr. Deburring is standard before packing. For parts going directly to welding or assembly, no additional edge treatment is typically needed.
Flame-cut A36 edges have slight oxidation and slag residue. Standard processing removes slag before inspection. Structural parts — frames, brackets, base plates — typically go straight to fabrication after slag removal.
